More convenience in travel planning thanks to new features in ChargingTime

April 16, 2024

Stuttgart, April 16, 2024 – The ChargingTime app continues to evolve – new features make traveling in an electric vehicle even more relaxed. Restaurant and hashtag filters as well as an innovative planning assistant put the focus even more on people.

With the extended restaurant filter, the user can filter the charging stations on the route according to specific restaurants or fast food chains and only display the charging stations near which the selected favorite restaurant or fast food chain can be found. This means that the electric vehicle driver knows directly when it is worth taking a break from charging and combining it with a relaxed meal, and when it is better to head for the nearest charging park: The system directly shows the individual locations of the respective restaurants and chains found along the route.

Users can also create hashtags for the loading parks, e.g. “portafilter machine”, “beautiful view”, “dog-friendly”, “trailer-friendly” and much more. These hashtags can also be filtered and the needs and wishes of users can be incorporated directly into the route planning.

Another new feature is the “planning assistant”: with a “range slider”, charging stops can be scheduled automatically at the appropriate intervals based on a range set by the user. The special feature here is that the planned stages are adapted in real time to a change in the set range and you can see immediately when an additional charging stop becomes necessary or when an originally planned stop becomes superfluous and is no longer necessary.

This allows you to adapt your driving style to the necessary charging stops. In concrete terms, this means that you can decide at any time whether a more moderate driving style at a slower speed makes sense, as this eliminates the need for a charging stop, or whether you can continue driving quickly with a clear conscience, as it makes no difference to the number of charging stops required – in line with the principle of self-determined driving, which is always at the forefront of ChargingTime. The user always has control over which stage length he chooses, because ChargingTime adapts the charging plan to the user.

The result of the route planning is therefore always an initial planning proposal that can be fully adapted by the user at any time afterwards.

Felix Geibel, Founder and CEO of On Your Route GmbH: “The further development of our app is another important step towards an even more comfortable journey in an electric vehicle. True to the principle of self-determined driving, our focus is always on people and their needs and wishes – it’s not the vehicle that determines travel planning, but the user.”

About ChargingTime:

ChargingTime is an innovative charging planning app that not only supports travel planning with the electric vehicle with features such as “charging power”, “occupancy” or “charging duration”, but also responds to individual user needs such as “restaurant”, “good coffee”, “children’s playground” and many more. – with Google Maps and integration into the vehicle via CarPlay or Android Auto allows flexible adaptation to current conditions at any time during the journey.

Developed by Felix Geibel in November 2021, the app doesn’t focus on charging, but on people. The idea for the app was born during one of the founder’s family vacations, which made him realize that there is more to good travel planning than the charging process: in his case, charging the electric vehicle had to be reconciled with the needs of the children (playing, eating something tasty quickly).

Since spring 2022, the team has been strengthened by Jonas Sulzer, who is constantly developing the app together with Felix Geibel. An important aspect for the further development of the app is the regular exchange with users – this is how ideas for additional functions that make traveling with the e-vehicle even more convenient are created.
